TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) is the research and development arm of TNB, the major power utility company in Malaysia. It was established as a department in TNB, and evolved into a subsidiary in 1993. Our R&D innovations are primarily focused to improve the process of power delivery. This comes down to three key thrusts:-

To date, we have conducted R&D in many power related areas including:- Power Plant Life Assessment; Power Plant Performance Optimisation; Power Equipment Failure Analysis; High Voltage Equipment Diagnostics; Power Systems Study & Simulations; Energy Systems; Power Transmission Technology, Power Cables Research; Combustion Technology, as well as Environmental Engineering & Technology. In recent years, our drive has gone from merely conducting R&D projects to supporting R&D adoption and maximising the value creation of our R&D outputs. The management of our R&D projects have been certified to the MS/ISO 9001 to ensure quality output and timely delivery.

In addition, TNBR is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for testing and research. Most of these laboratories have also been accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratory quality management.

To cap it all up, TNBR is an approved R&D status organization by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA). As such, companies who engage us to conduct R&D activities will be eligible for double tax deduction on the amount spent!

Through the years, TNBR has emerged as the point of technical reference in many power related areas. TNBR’s R&D innovations have provided significant impact to improve power delivery, as our R&D results and solutions are applied directly at-site, where it matters.
